Clemson is eyeing its third championship and second in three seasons under coach Dabo Swinney. The Tigers lost a classic championship game to Alabama after the 2015 season before beating the Tide on a last-second touchdown for the 2016 crown.

The College Football Playoff and Bay Area host committee expect the average ticket price to remain on track with averages from the 2015 and 2016 national title games, but the “get-in” price for this year’s game is cheaper than ever before. Average ticket prices soared in 2017 and 2018 when fans of Clemson, Alabama and Georgia could drive from their home states to watch games in Tampa Bay, Florida (2017) and Atlanta, Georgia (2018).

Clemson’s offense will be led by freshman sensation Trevor Lawrence. Since earning the starting job, Lawrence has elevated the Tigers’ offensive productivity. In 10 starts, Lawrence has thrown for 2,333 yards and 18 touchdowns. During that time, the ACC Rookie of the Year has grown as a leader and as a quarterback by leaps and bounds.

Winning another crown Monday night against Clemson would lift the Crimson Tide even further above other college football dynasties and into the conversation about the best runs in all of college sports.
